The new “Globally Harmonized” Hazard Communication law replaced the 1994 standard.
OSHA has changed many areas of hazard communication compliance and added new requirements.
A compliance schedule was created by OSHA for the new requirements. The compliance date that most affects employers of all types is cited in 1910.1200(j)(1): “Employers SHALL train employees regarding new label elements and Safety Data Sheet format by December 1, 2013.”
Are you on schedule to be in compliance? The Safety and Health Council of North Carolina can provide the training you need to make sure you are.
- OSHA Globalized Hazcom standard review and implementation schedule
- Be able to determine overall impact and coverage for your operation
- Be able to identify and define new wording, symbols and hazard system numbering for new labeling program
- Be able to read and understand new SDS (16 Section format)
- Determine need for extent and content of associate training to comply with new standard
- Review new appendix information for Hazard Determination, labeling and MSDS procedures
Q: Does OSHA consider computer based training without a hands-on skill component or verification of competent skill performance acceptable for meeting basic first aid and CPR requirements of OSHA First Aid Standards?
A: Online training alone would not meet the requirements of these training standards ...
These standards require training in physical skills, such as bandaging or CPR. The only way these skills can be learned is by physically practicing them. For a full copy of the letter please click here...
