Hazard Communication

National Safety Council's Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for Hazard Communication is newly revised to incorporate the GHS standard. It is designed to protect employees from hazardous chemicals used or stored in the workplace. This program provides an easy and effective way to communicate the new hazard standards while engaging all employees in the continuous improvement of their safety culture.

A compliance schedule was created by OSHA for the new requirements.  The compliance date that most affects employers of all types is cited in 1910.1200(j)(1): “Employers SHALL train employees regarding new label elements and Safety Data Sheet format by December 1, 2013.”

This course includes:

  • OSHA Globalized Hazcom standard review and implementation schedule
  • Be able to determine overall impact and coverage for your operation
  • Be able to identify and define new wording, symbols and hazard system numbering for new labeling program
  • Be able to read and understand new SDS (16 Section format)
  • Determine need for extent and content of associate training to comply with new standard
  • Review new appendix information for Hazard Determination, labeling and MSDS procedures
